About Me

Why HCRockstar, you may ask?

I am not an extra ordinary nor an average guy. I am unremarkably unremarkable. If I have any achievement, it is not due to some intrinsic difference, but to some stellar combination of effort and luck. I have been blessed by my Savior and Lord Jesus not because of what I have done but because of his unconditional love, grace and mercy.

I moved to Canada in 2012 working as an IT Professional. After losing my job during the COVID-19 pandemic, companies have switched hiring contractors instead of employees. I have to adapt to the new setup. I have to work as an incorporated contractor – a worker who has chosen to be in business for myself and has incorporated a business to provide my service. I need to come up with a good name for my business that represents me (HCR – my initials) and my attitude towards work (rockstar.)

So, what made me decide to go back to blogging?

I started my blog over a decade ago. I got into photography while I was working in the middle east and wanted to showcase my works. Also at that time I was preparing to move to Canada. I was hoping I can journey my preparations of moving and ordeals of starting a new life in another country. However,  I was overwhelmed when I got here and wasn’t able to set some time to pursue it. I was swamped with work and studying to keep my skills up to date and relevant.

In all my years of working as an IT Systems Administrator, I have collected several How to’s and troubleshooting steps that I have always used. Technologies may have evolved but there are still tasks that remain unchanged. My aim is to help non-technical people to do some simple IT stuff, to help the IT newbies who work in helpdesk and service desk to advance their knowledge and skills, and lastly hoping to inspire others to share their knowledge.

Lastly, I need to start a new hobby to keep my mind from being idle for there’s a saying that an idle mind is the devil’s workshop.
